La Copa de la Vida

Throughout the year, we have been using pop music to highlight grammar and vocabulary points.   The students have found this practice to be enriching. At A As a final project, the students created a lip dub using La Copa de la Vida by Ricky Martin.

Un día sin papel

tim-burtonHoy no vamos a usar papel sino la computadora.   Tu tarea hoy es leer el artículo sobre Tim Burton y contestar las preguntas.   Debes copiar las preguntas usando GOOGLEDOCS.   Los acentos son muy importantes por eso debes usar Spanish Typeit para escribir las respuestas.  Si necesitas ayuda con los verbos puedes usar Spanish Verb Conjugator para ayudarte.  Si te hace falta una palabras puedes buscarla usando Spanish Dictionary 

Cuando terminas debes copiar tus repuestas de Spanishtype  a Google Doc.

Por fin debes compatirlas conmigo a fravan@breweredu.org.  OJO-debes darme permiso para redactarlas.

TV Bombay Project

TV BOMBAY provides short clips of TV shows from India. You task today is to provide subtitles for one of the clips. Go to the web site and select a clip. After you have done that, try to imagine what they must be talking about. You are free to make your clip funny, serious or informative, just be sure to keep it classroom appropriate. When you have  done, be sure to e-mail it to me. Our plan for Friday is to spend a few minutes enjoying your work.

Clips will be selected based on grammar, usage of vocabulary from this year and creativity.  

 

There will be prize for the funniest and the most creative.

La Poesía

imagesThis morning I passed out the poems for our classroom poetry declamation.  In the packet was one mandatory poem and three optional poems.  Everyone has to recite the mandatory poem and one of the three optional poems.    We talked about due dates and how these will be assessed.   

ACTFL Standards:  

 Standard 1.2  Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics. 

Standard 2.2  Students demonstrate an understanding of the relationship between the products and perspectives of the culture studied.

Today we are preparing for the National Spanish Exam.    There is also a section for general practice .   If you brought  your own ear buds, you may use them.  Otherwise, please use the headphones I have in the box on top of the cart.   To get the points for today–you are to practice all period.  You may practice using either link.

El Imperfecto

We have been talking about the imperfect tense.  We talked about how the imperfect tense is used to describe in the past.  We practiced describing.  Today we are going to focus on another use of the imperfect.   The imperfect tense is used for talking about habitual actions in the past.  You are going to create a slide show on GOGGLEDOCs. of ten slide that talk about things you used to do.  Be sure to use 10 different verbs.  For each slide find a picture at  either Flickr creative commons, Morguefiles  or Wiki Media .  These are copyright free sights.  Title of your slide show should be…”Cuando era niño…” or” Cuando era niña”…. 

Parts not completed today in class will need to be completed at home.

First assignment–formal commands.  You have done very well with formal commands.  You all seem to understand how they work.  This is the last review before the big test.

Second Assignment :  Complete Ex 29 on page 104.  Pay close attention to the examples and use vocabulary from the examples.

For homework, read the story on pages 108-9 and answer the question on page 109.

miércoles, el trece de enero

Today we are going to do several things.

 First, the irregular preterite quiz.  Please take a few minutes and take the quiz.  After everyone has taken the quiz, you need to do two things.

 Second,  you will need to clean-up the handouts that you created for making two commands.  I have offered suggestions. Please take those.  These need to be accurate, neat and visually appealing.   Con todo respeto les digo—they need some more work in the visually appealing dept.

 The last thing you need to do is check your slides for errors.  Yesterday we spent a lot of time working on these slide and critiquing them.  Be sure that you are ready for me to post them on the web.  They need to be flawless. 

Finally we are going to talk about the exam–I know you all want to take it today.
